Ever wonder how Buzz Lightyear learned to fly or how Pixar’s unforgettable worlds come to life? “The Science Behind Pixar,” opening October 10 at Frost Science Museum, pulls back the curtain on the animation process through more than 50 immersive exhibits. Visitors can explore everything from 3D modeling and lighting to character design and storytelling while discovering the STEM concepts that power some of the studio’s most beloved films.

Ready to dance? III Points Festival returns to Mana Wynwood October 16-17 with cutting-edge music, immersive art, and nonstop energy. Featuring more than 10 stages, this year’s genre-defying lineup includes headliners Underworld, Four Tet, Lil’ Kim, Kelela, and Charlotte de Witte, alongside rare back-to-back sets and local underground talent. Beyond the music, festivalgoers can explore large-scale art installations, interactive technology exhibits, food pop-ups from Miami favorites like Ghee and Tam Tam, and a week of satellite events, making III Points one of Miami’s premier celebrations of music, art, and culture.

Shell Yeah

Kick off stone crab season at the fourteenth annual South Beach Seafood Festival. Taking place October 21-24, this culinary celebration will feature cooking demos, chef showdowns, and beachfront dining. New this year, the festival opens with Made in Miami, an exclusive dinner honoring the chefs who helped shape South Florida’s dining scene. On October 24, the festival will take over four blocks of Ocean Drive, welcoming more than 15,000 seafood lovers for a day of spectacular bites spanning stone crabs, fish tacos, fresh oysters, ceviche, and plenty more. Proceeds benefit the CI Foundation’s Eat Smart program, which provides healthy meals and nutrition education to youth across Florida.

Sole Searching

Step into the fascinating world of footwear at “Foot Notes: Shoes, Symbolism, and Society,” The Wolfsonian-FIU’s newest exhibition exploring the cultural power of shoes from the early twentieth century. Curated by The Wolfsonian’s Danielle Charlap and on view through February, the showcase features rare designs—from Ferragamo creations to historic artifacts—and examines how shoes reflect identity, technological innovation, propaganda, and everyday life. Beyond design, the exhibition highlights the transition to mass production and the rise of ergonomic footwear, illustrating how everyday shoes became a canvas and tool during a transformative global era.
