The worlds of media, sports, entertainment, and technology are colliding faster than ever, and William Mellis wants to bring the biggest players in these categories together under one roof. The veteran executive behind global events like Cannes Lions and Money20/20 is launching Jupiter Festival at the Miami Beach Convention Center October 13-16. Backed by Art Basel parent MCH Group, the four-day gathering will feature headline-making speakers, immersive experiences, high-stakes networking, and an exclusive opening-night concert by Third Eye Blind, all designed to spark big ideas and unexpected collaborations. We caught up with the CEO and co-founder to discuss why Miami is the perfect launchpad, what attendees can expect, and where he believes these industries are headed.

Aventura: Jupiter Festival is positioning itself at the convergence of media, entertainment, and sports. What was the core inspiration behind bringing this global platform to Miami?

Mellis: Miami is the perfect location for us because it is dynamic, vibrant, and progressive. That matches the festival, which will offer high energy and an exceptional environment for networking and learning. On a practical level, Miami has the infrastructure we need and is easily accessible for attendees from the East Coast, West Coast, and overseas.

CEO and co-founder William Mellis says Jupiter Festival will offer ample networking opportunities.

With parent company MCH Group, the force behind Art Basel, backing the event, Jupiter Festival carries a high standard for world-class curation. How did you approach building a lineup that bridges legacy media icons, sports champions, and tech disruptors on the same stage?

I want executives who attend to leave with at least three ideas or concepts they didn’t have before they came to the festival. That could be a true epiphany or simply the realization, “I knew this, but I’d never seen it from that angle.” That requires provocative, opinionated speakers and sessions. Next, we identified the themes that would resonate most with the industry. We’re all about quality over quantity. We don’t want delegates to feel overwhelmed by choice, and we want every session to feature true leaders on stage. Then we recruited the right speakers. I’m delighted with the caliber of our lineup.

From Third Eye Blind kicking off the festival with an exclusive opening concert to deep dives into AI and the creator economy, the event blends serious business with high-energy experiences.

Every attendee will find multiple can’t-miss moments, both from the speakers and the connections they’ll make. The festival has been designed to maximize meaningful networking.

Today’s media landscape is shifting rapidly around branded entertainment, IP ownership, and changing audience loyalty. What is the single biggest conversation or takeaway you hope leaders walk away with?

I want industry leaders to understand and embrace the seismic shift our industry is going through. The power has moved from content owners to audiences, and meaningful engagement now requires building a loyal fan base.
