The cutest new duo in South Florida doesn’t wear designer labels—they wear fur. Meet Bentley and Treena, two playful black bear cubs who have officially settled into their forever home at Flamingo Gardens. The 14-month-old siblings were rescued in Georgia after losing their mother. Because they were bottle-fed by rescuers, they could no longer be returned to the wild. After spending time at Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, they arrived in Davie, where they’re quickly stealing hearts.
Their 10,000-square-foot habitat—25 times larger than the state-required minimum—has trees to climb, a pond for splashing, and plenty of room for the mischievous pair to wrestle, explore, and burn off endless cub energy. At roughly three feet tall and 100 pounds each, they’re still growing, but one thing is already clear: they’re crowd favorites.
“These bears are still very young and extremely active, so it’s great that they have each other to keep busy,” says Keith Clark, CEO of Flamingo Gardens. “It is our honor to provide lifelong care and a safe home for these wonderful creatures.”
As Flamingo Gardens’ newest wildlife ambassadors, Bentley and Treena will spend their lives inspiring visitors to care about conservation while enjoying the safe, permanent home they deserve.
